Babies and Bellies

I have had my navel pierced since I was 18 years old. I am now 30 years old, on the verge of getting married and expecting my first child. 

With my expanding belly it has occurred to me that it would probably be a good idea to take this stainless steel barbell out of my belly button. It has never crossed my mind to remove it until now. People have commented on its cliched existence and my ever climbing age as well as the out-dated-ness of the whole thing and suggested that these things might contribute to its removal. But previously I had found the idea of removing this abdominal adornment comical and unnecessary. Alas, the necessity is looming and soon my belly will be bare.  

Let it be known that I do not think that I am old. I just think that I am not as young as I used to be.
